WSDOT will be closing both directions of I-5 between Federal Way and Fife on Aug. 28 and 29 as part of its SR 167 Completion Project.
The work will involve moving 10 gigantic girders into place for the new 70th Avenue East Bridge.
Lane closure schedule:
- Single lane closures begin each night at 8 p.m.
- From 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day, all lanes in both directions of I-5 from Federal Way to Fife will close.
- At 8 a.m. the following day, one lane will reopen.
- All lanes in both directions will reopen by noon each day.
During the full closure:
- Southbound I-5 travelers will follow a signed detour at exit 142 B to SR 99, or exit 142A to westbound SR 18 to southbound SR 167 to SR 512 to I-5.
- Northbound I-5 travelers will follow a signed detour at exit 127 to SR 512, SR 167 to either SR 18 or I-405 to I-5. Northbound I-5 drivers in Tacoma and Fife will exit northbound I-5 at exit 137 at 54th Avenue East to SR 99
