The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Coast Longshore Division (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), the union and employer group that move cargo on the United States’ Pacific Coast, have announced modified work hours on Nov. 3, 2020.
The ILWU and PMA have agreed to cease all operations coastwise on the first shift at 4 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2020, to allow additional time for workers to vote in the General Election. Work will commence on the second shift without change.
The announcement of the Election Day schedule covers all 29 ports on the West Coast of the United States, in California, Oregon and Washington.
