The northbound I-5 on-ramp at Port of Tacoma Road has reopened, much earlier than expected, less than a week after a major environmental cleanup project began. That project closed 20th Street East and Port of Tacoma Road, and the I-5 ramps, on March 6. As of today, the northbound I-5 on-ramp from the Pacific Highway East side of Port of Tacoma Road has reopened. The I-5 ramp access from 20th Street East is still closed and is expected to be completed by March 23. The cleanup is the result of a fuel spill from an overturned semi that leaked more than 7,500 gallons of fuel on Port of Tacoma Road.
