The City of Tacoma is holding a pre-construction virtual open house for the Taylor Way Rehabilitation Project on Wednesday, May 27, from noon - 1 p.m. via Zoom webinar.

Taylor Way is a vital freight corridor for the Port of Tacoma and is one of the main access points to the Blair-Hylebos Peninsula. At this virtual open house, information about the project’s scope and design, construction timeline, detour routes, and construction work hours will be presented.

Proposed improvements to Taylor Way include reconstructing the State Route 509/Taylor Way intersection; new concrete pavement from the Fife border to East 11th Street; improved pedestrian access from Lincoln Avenue to State Route 509; added turn lanes at State Route 509/Taylor Way to reduce congestion; upgraded utilities; new traffic signals; and other amenities. Construction is expected to begin in June 2020 and to last approximately 15 months.

To participate in the virtual open house, visit cityoftacoma.org/TaylorWay and click the registration link, or to listen in dial 1-253-215-8782 and enter the passcode 825 9546 1825 when prompted.

City and project staff will be available at the virtual open house for questions. To send questions before the virtual open house or for more information on the project, contact Project Manager Mark D'Andrea at mdandrea@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-5518.
