Traffic impacts at SR 509/Alexander Avenue this Thursday

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is planning to replace a damaged attenuator at northbound SR 509 and Alexander Avenue in Tacoma on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During that time, WSDOT will be closing the left lane of the northbound direction of SR 509 approximately ½ mile prior to the Alexander Avenue intersection and allowing traffic to use the left lane turn pocket to enter the Port of Tacoma via Alexander Avenue.

WSDOT is also going to be closing the left turn lane exiting the Port of Tacoma via Alexander Avenue. Drivers will need to use the right turn lane to make left turns onto northbound SR 509.

While WSDOT expects minimal traffic impacts during this work, please be patient and drive with caution.
