NWSA co-chairs' statement on West Seattle Bridge
The West Seattle high bridge closure remains top of mind for all of us at the Port Commission. Along with the potential closure of the low bridge, the impacts to this critical transportation hub highlights our maritime economy’s vital dependency on the free movement of people, goods, and vehicles throughout the busiest maritime freight hub in the state. Reliance on this freight movement supports tens of thousands of jobs along the Duwamish and across Harbor Island as well as the critical supply chain to Alaska. We appreciate the Seattle Department of Transportation’s presentation to the Seattle City Council on Monday morning and look forward to continuing to deepen the City’s coordination with The Northwest Seaport Alliance, the Port of Seattle, and the broader maritime and manufacturing community.
